Don’t Reach For Your Cell Phone If You Are In A Drunken Stupor!
Hardly any of us set out with the intention of ending up in a drunken stupor! It is easy to head out for the night with the intention of having just a couple of drinks, catching a little buzz and heading home. Alcohol and good company have a funny way of turning those couple of drinks into a couple of hours spent knocking back anything the bar serves that looks cheap and interesting! One beer can lead to another and this can quickly turn into shots and cocktails. Drinking with friends increases the pressure to keep up with the group and before you know it you’re in a drunken stupor.
Almost everyone who has ever tried alcohol is well aware of the point where buzzed turns to drunk which rapidly turns into totally wasted. The experience of being in a drunken stupor is rarely fun. It usually involves stumbling around, being unable to talk clearly and throwing up everywhere. Not a good look. Yet for some reason, a lot of people consider this state of drunken stupor to be the ideal time to reach for their cell phone and share their thoughts and feelings with the world!
Anyone that’s ever been on the receiving end of a series of texts from someone in a drunken stupor knows exactly what it is like. Sometimes the drunken person gets ridiculously happy and feels the need to express this to you. It may take the form of badly spelt song lyrics, professions of love and declarations of eternal friendship, all badly spelt and next to impossible to read. Although irritating, far worse forms of text messaging can come from people in a drunken stupor.
Although overly happy drunken text messages can be irritating to receive, especially if it’s the early hours of the morning and you’re trying to catch some sleep, they can also be funny and kind of endearing. The same can’t be said to the dark side of drunken stupor inspired texting – the angry drama text.
Angry drama texts usually involve a wasted person mistaking their contacts list for a therapist’s office. Some people have a personality that combines with being in a drunken stupor to release all of their pent-up depression and frustration. Anyone who’s ever got these texts off someone knows what it’s like. Long, impossible to read rants spanning six separate messages spelling out all of the pain and misery in a person’s life. And you’re the lucky person who gets to hear about it all when you’re trying to have a quiet night in! Definitely not cool.
It’s inevitable that, now and then, we will all drink a little more than we meant to and end up in a drunken stupor, stumbling around, mouthing off and relying on our friends to get us home. It’s part of the experience of learning to handle alcohol. What should NEVER be part of the experience is people who see their drunken stupor as the ideal time to text the worst sides of their personality to anyone and everyone they have ever met. Whatever you do, don’t become ‘that drunken stupor guy’!
