Alcohol and cell phones can be a hilarious combination, especially when it comes to drunk messages. When we drink, we tend to loosen up and say and do all kinds of things we would never do sober. After a couple of drinks, people are often just happier, slightly less uptight versions of themselves. If those couple of drinks turns into a lot of drinks, it all changes! People become totally wild. You get shy people acting confident and crazy and the crazy people getting even wilder! A lot of people get super sociable after alcohol and decide being wasted is the perfect time to send texts or leave drunk messages for people. These are usually pure comedy in one way or another.
Drunk messages tend to come in two types, text messages or voicemails. Each is funny in its own way and full of unique potential for something to go hilariously wrong. Drunk messages sent by text go wrong very easily. After knocking back some drinks it can be hard to write properly, and badly spelt words can give drunk messages funny unintended meanings. ‘I love you’ can quickly become ‘I leave you’, ‘Meet me there’ turns to ‘Meet men there’ and so on. Either they’re so drunk they get names mixed up or have two people in their phone book with the same name and send the drunk messages to the wrong one! The bonus of voicemail over text is the drunk person’s voice is on record and the message can be played back to them for laughs the next day! It’s also funny when the person is so wasted their drunk messages go something like “Hi…wait, I’ve forgotten who I’m trying to speak to, let me call back after I remember who you are meant to be” and then hanging up!
